In a centralized splitter configuration that complies with ITU-T G.984 and G.9807 series recommendations, a 1x32 optical splitter is typically installed in an outdoor plant enclosure at the feeder-distribution interface. The input port of the splitter connects to the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) located in the central office via a single feeder fiber.
On the distribution side, the 32 output fibers become part of the signal net, routed through optical distribution frames (ODFs) or fiber access terminals (FATs). These fibers then connect to the drop network, delivering optical links to 32 individual Optical Network Terminations (ONTs) or customer premises nodes.
This configuration allows for efficient signal distribution from a single OLT port to multiple subscribers while maintaining standardized optical budget and loss performance as defined by GPON and XG(S)-PON physical layer specifications.
